Frequently Asked Questions/Comments:
"I don't want to go to the meetings."
Being a member of the PTA is much more than just attending meetings. You can be active in the PTA by donating your time volunteering at school with special events, doing work for your child's teacher at home, donating food or other materials needed for events and much more. As a member you will receive an agenda before each meeting so you can see the topics being discussed. You will also get updates via email throughout the year to keeping you up-to-date so you can be active and involved without having to attend each meeting. You can make or your involvement as little or as much as you'd like. Every bit helps!
"I don't have the time."
We all understand having a busy schedule, but it is your interest that counts. If you are unable to support the PTA with time, please consider your financial support so that all the people working in the PTA know that you too are with us. You will have the satisfaction of knowing your money is helping as we develop program and activities that benefit the children and the community.
"I don't agree with some of PTA's decisions"
Understood, but the only way to avoid disagreement would be do adopt a "do-nothing" policy and we don't think anyone would benefit from that. Becoming a member is easy and once you are you can help to change the direction of the organization once you understand the whole picture. New inspiration is always welcome!
"Not now, but maybe later?"
You can't really afford to delay in being informed on the current issues and trends affecting children. Through the PTA, you will have access to the latest resources and publication designed to address today's challenges facing parents and children in the schools and communities. Our member are the heart of the organization and determine the course of action we need to take. Do what you can, when you can, every bit can help!
Business Partnerships Continued....
As a business neighbor of Kendrick Lakes Elementary, we would like to invite you to become a business member of the Kendrick Lakes PTA. This is a special class of membership that promotes a different kind of involvement than traditional PTA memberships. The goal of this program is to create better schools and therefore a better education for the community.
Many school districts with dwindling budgets are using all the resources at their disposal just to try to stay even, and they need help. We feel that PTA and businesses can provide substantial help by jointly taking their concerns to school boards, legislators and other policy makers who can influence education reform.
Together we must insist that schools provide well-educated students who are ready for the work force. This should be of vital concern to employers everywhere; inadequately trained employees are a man-power and financial drain on any company.
We would like for you to join with us and over 33,000 PTA members in Colorado to improve the quality of education. Your business membership supports us in two ways. First, by helping strengthen our child advocacy efforts to reform education values and standards. Closer to home, your membership dues will help us promote the welfare of our children through special programs and projects not available with our school’s limited budget.
You will have several different types of opportunities to access our community in order to promote your business. You are invited to advertise via our membership email distribution and/or you may set up a table and promote your business directly to the community during PTA events (see our calendar of events). If you wish to take part in the eblast program then you must email your advertisement to the membership coordinator and PTA President for approval and distribution (no more than 3 eblasts per semester). You will also be featured in our newsletter (sent out every other month/4 times per school year) with a business card size ad. Together we can show how business and education partnerships can forge solutions.
Your “Business for PTA” membership* is tax deductible and costs $75 for one school year (or $50 per semester). The membership will be in the name of one individual that you designate as your representative. You will receive a framed certificate that you can display in your place of business. We appreciate your alliance with our Kendrick Lakes Elementary PTA and look forward to establishing a lasting relationship with your business. Here is the registration form.
*Please note that in-kind donations of goods or services valued in excess of $150 will also constitute meeting the criteria of a business member with all the above mentioned benefits.
